Commemorative stamp on freedom fighter Azhagumuthu Kone to be released

The department of posts will release commemorative stamps on freedom fighter Azhagumuthu Kone While the stamp on Pant would be released on December 26, said a postal department press release.

Kone was one of the early freedom fighters to arouse public consciousness against foreign rule in Tiruneveli region of Tamil Nadu. He was a general with Ettayappa Naicker, a Polygar king of Ettayapuram.

The commemorative postage stamps, first day covers and information brochures can be purchased from the philatelic bureaux and counters across the country.
